Terms of Use

1. Scope

These terms cover the use of the sublarr.de website including the documentation at /docs/. The Sublarr software itself is governed primarily by the GNU General Public License v3 (GPL-3.0), whose terms prevail over these in case of conflict.

2. No contract, no hosted service

Sublarr is a free open-source project. This website provides information and documentation. There are no user accounts, nothing is sold, and no hosted service is operated — the software runs solely on servers its users run themselves. Using this website creates no contractual relationship and no claim to availability, accuracy or continued operation.

3. Software without warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of correctness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation. The disclaimers of the GPL-3.0 (sections 15 and 16) apply. Sublarr modifies subtitle and media files on disk — keeping your own backups before using it is strongly advised.

4. Responsibilities when self-hosting

Whoever runs Sublarr is responsible for using it lawfully. This includes in particular:

  • the rights to the media and subtitle files being processed;
  • the terms of the connected third-party services (subtitle providers, translation and transcription APIs), and proper handling of the API keys used for them;
  • securing your own installation if you expose it beyond your local network.

5. Third-party content

This website links to external services such as GitHub, Discord and Reddit. Their content and data processing are solely their operators' responsibility; see also the imprint and the privacy policy.

6. Liability

Liability for damages arising from use of the website and the software is limited to intent and gross negligence. Liability for injury to life, body or health, and liability under mandatory statutory provisions, remain unaffected. No liability is accepted for data loss that reasonable backups would have prevented.

7. Changes

These terms may be adjusted when the project or the legal situation changes. The version published on this page at any given time applies.

8. Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer protection rights of the country where a user habitually resides remain unaffected.
